Madagascar > On the way to Paris

Despite all the checks, everyone is on the plane well in time. Yet the aircraft waits for a while before the runway. At exactly ten minutes to two, the scheduled departure time, the Airbus A340-300 takes off for a flight of just over ten hours to Paris. I watch the sparse lights around Antananarivo quickly disappear below me. I recline my seat and try to sleep. As we enter French airspace, breakfast is served. Delicious cheese and ham. I leave the jam untouched—I’ve had enough baguette with jam over the past three weeks. In Paris, I quickly transfer to my connecting flight to Amsterdam.
