We continue driving on a stony road. As we turn off toward Karogh, the road gradually ascends. Because it’s unpaved, we can't go very fast. It seems the northern route is the unpaved mountain pass, and the longer southern route is the main road. This means we’ll have to drive almost 200 kilometers on dirt roads — an 8 to 10-hour drive. The road follows the Obikhingou River uphill. The view is spectacular. Streams from the mountains feed into the river. At times, the road has washed away, and we follow detours. In one of the mountain streams, a car has gotten stuck — its wheels slipping on the loose stones. Another vehicle pulls it out. Even the motorcyclists struggle to cross here. A few local men help them through.
