Baalbek is one of the largest archaeological sites from the Roman period. With awe at how people were able to create such a complex two thousand years ago, I continue walking. I reach the highest plateau. Here once stood 56 columns that together formed the temple of Jupiter. Six pillars have been reconstructed. The thirty-meter-high columns show the size of the former temple. Next to the temple of Jupiter is the temple of Bacchus. The temple dedicated to wine. This temple has withstood the test of time well. The historic building is still fairly intact. The size, height, and scale are impressive.
