At the bird market, we arrived just in time to see the very first participant. During the bird market, the songbirds are “taken out” on Sunday mornings. The cages are hung on poles in the grass field. The owners then take a seat on benches along the field. The idea is that the birds can also pick up melodies from other birds. Singing competitions between the birds also take place regularly. After about an hour, there were roughly 50 bird enthusiasts with their pets present. In the meantime, we also looked around Independence Square, the surrounding buildings, and the palace. A little after half past seven, our taxi driver arrives to take us back.
