From Amsterdam to Tokyo

We ask him to take us to Chuam Beach. That name seems to ring a bell. Along the way, he calls someone who speaks English. He hands us the phone. Where are we from and where are we going? We thought he already understood that. We agree that he will pick us up here again at four o'clock. At Chuam Beach, you’ll also find the Chotdaebawi Rock. This “Candlestick Rock” is one of the most touristy spots in South Korea. The rock pillar rises up like a candle. Images of the sunset at Chotdaebawi Rock are often used as TV backdrops in Korea. Around the main rock are many other interesting formations. Behind it lies Chuam Beach. Children play in the sea while their parents rest in the shade of parasols. Along the shore, Koreans walk with umbrellas for sun protection. It’s a hot day. We cool off at a terrace with a cold drink.
