Now we drive to the Bahrain International Circuit, the Formula 1 racetrack in the desert. Since 2004, Formula 1 races have been held in Bahrain, this year for the twentieth time. Only in 2011 did the race not take place due to political tensions around the Arab Spring. Max Verstappen won the last two races. In a few weeks, he can try again. The first stop is the VIP Tower. From the eighth floor, I have a view of the circuit and pit lane. It’s more fun than I expected. We also visit the media center, where the press stays during the race. Next to it is the Control Room. On dozens of screens, every part of the circuit can be watched. Here, footage can also be reviewed when accidents happen.
