Felix introduces himself. He is the driver. In English and Spanish, he explains the island and the tour. He also says we will make two stops: one in the capital of the French part of the island and one at the beach. From the bus, we see the Great Salt Pond lagoon near Philipsburg. We also pass the border crossing with the border monument. Sint Maarten is the only place where the Netherlands borders France. There is no border control or customs, Felix says. The city of Marigot lies on the north side of the island. The city mainly lives off tourism. On the boulevard is a market with souvenirs. We wander through the streets. We can’t get lost because the city consists of four parallel streets with side streets. Among the many shops stand some colonial buildings. We continue the route by bus over the island. We arrive back in the Dutch part.
