At exactly ten o’clock, we leave the apartment. The cleaning crew is already waiting at the door. We walk to the center for the last time. This time, we walk to the new city. We follow Princes Street towards Calton Hill park. On this prominent hill stand several monuments inspired by Greek architecture. The view of the Dugald Stewart Monument and the city behind it is the most famous image of Edinburgh. A beautiful location and view to conclude our weekend. To go to the airport, we don’t have to go all the way back to the tram stop at West End. Andrew’s Square is closer. This is the starting point of the tram to the airport. After half an hour, we get off at the airport.
I step off the bus at the Glenmorangie Distillery. Inside, we get a guided tour of the facility. Making whiskey involves five steps: malting, mashing, fermenting, distilling, and maturation. After the tour, we have the opportunity to taste the whiskey. I’m not much of a whiskey drinker. I alternate sips of whiskey with sips of water. Some fellow travellers don’t like it either and slide their glasses towards me. I politely decline.
