Cuba > With a book on the beach

Dag 14 - Wednesday, May 25, 2005

Today we’re on time for breakfast, even if only by a few minutes. It’s a relaxing day on the beach, enjoying a good book under the parasol. The story is exciting enough to fully savor this delightful combination.

Cuba - Relaxing on the beach

Just before lunch, I close the book for a short break. At the end of the afternoon, I take a walk around Varadero with the camera. On the beach, the wind has picked up considerably, which makes the turquoise-blue color of the water less visible. In the evening, we take two taxis to the beach bar we visited yesterday. We have a wonderful dinner there. Afterward, we linger, enjoying the salsa music played by a guitarist. The man clearly enjoys himself, and his live performance is far more enjoyable than the usual bands that play during dinner. Salsa is also being danced in the beach bar, and the musician happily joins in. Walking back to the hotel along the beach just after midnight, we notice that, despite the hour, there are still quite a few people on the sand.
