It’s a quarter past four in the morning. The phone rings. “Good morning sir, this is your wake-up call.” I pack my luggage and get ready for the return flight to Amsterdam. Down at the reception, a breakfast package is waiting for me.

The taxi also arrives just before five o’clock. The streets are quiet. The wide boulevards are largely deserted. Within fifteen minutes, I’m already at the airport. I’m immediately served at the check-in counter and pass through customs smoothly. From the hotel to the gate takes just half an hour—ideal for a second flight of the day from the airport. I do have to wait a little while for departure. Around seven o’clock, I take the bus to the plane. Shortly afterward, we take off, heading for Amsterdam.
