Indonesia > Departure from Schiphol

Just before 5:30 in the evening, I get off at the station. I take the train to Schiphol. It feels a bit strange that just five days ago I arrived here from Mexico. Today, I’m flying the other way. The flight goes to Singapore, and from there I will continue to Denpasar on Bali. I check in my luggage, pass through baggage control and customs. Within fifteen minutes, all formalities are completed. This means I still have to wait at the airport until my flight departs. I order coffee with a sandwich. Around eight o’clock, boarding begins for priority passengers. Shortly after, I am allowed to board as well. I have a window seat. I prefer this on a night flight because I can lean against the side. At nine o’clock, flight KL 835 takes off towards Singapore. In the dark, I see the city lights below me. I think I can make out Amstelveen, but after that it’s hard to orient myself in the dark. After an hour and a half, the meal is served. I order a glass of wine with it.
