Romania > Heading towards the Netherlands

At a quarter to eight, the alarm goes off for the last time on this trip. I take a shower and repack my luggage. With a bit of squeezing and arranging, all my clothes fit back into the backpack for carry-on. On the ground floor, a breakfast buffet is ready. Coffee, a cheese croissant, and muesli. A perfect start to the day. We check out at the reception, then drive the car back to the airport. Several roads are closed off. It quickly becomes clear why. Above us, helicopters, airplanes, and fighter jets are flying. There’s an air show taking place above Bucharest. We watch the planes fly by in formation. At the rental company, the car is inspected. Everything is in order. Over the past week, we’ve driven eleven hundred kilometers through Romania. We’re taken to the departure hall, where we check in for our flight to Amsterdam. We make it through all the checks well ahead of time, leaving us a bit of time for a drink. At 15:40, the flight to Amsterdam departs. Without any major issues, we land there just under three hours later. Luckily, we only have carry-on luggage with us, as there appear to be problems with baggage handling. We quickly head to the train. We’re on our way home.
