26 - 30 july 2007 (5 days)
It’s just after 2:30 in the afternoon when I get into my car, heading for Luxembourg. The GPS guides me via Rotterdam and Antwerp toward Liège. The roads are quiet, and the drive goes smoothly, although I still find nearly four hundred kilometers to be quite a distance.
Near Liège, things get tricky. Two different GPS systems suggest different routes, so it probably doesn’t matter much which one I choose. I decide to avoid the city of Liège and drive north toward Aachen, following the route through Verviers and Spa. At the Luxembourg exit, I leave the highway and drive toward the border. Just after entering Luxembourg, I decide to go straight at a roundabout. In hindsight, this isn’t such a smart choice, and I end up driving through many small villages until I reach Wiltz. From Wiltz, I take the road to Kautenbach. Had I taken the other route, I would likely have arrived sooner. Around 5:30 in the evening, I drive into the campsite and park next to the tent. During the day, a decathlon-style competition was held at the campsite, with the awards ceremony in the evening. Wouter and Carline’s group came in seventh. In the evening, we have a barbecue by the tent.
