720 September 2008 (14 days)
The end of the vacation is approaching, although there are still two days left. Today we drive back to San José to catch our flight back to Amsterdam. It feels as if we are going home today.
We say goodbye to all the fellow travelers who are staying behind. At half past ten, we leave the resort, first taking the coastal road back to Jacó. At the narrow and rickety bridge, we get out. We walk along the bridge and take photos as heavy trucks and our bus cross it. It’s incredible that such a bridge is still in use. Fortunately, a modern bridge is under construction. Before heading into the mountains, we stop for coffee and have the option to grab a bite to eat. I stick with a slice of cake. Further along the route, we stop at a souvenir shop. They have a wide selection of souvenirs, but I don’t see much of interest and just look around. At a quarter past three, we arrive back at the Grand Hotel Costa Rica. We spend the afternoon with a walk through the city. I use the internet to contact home, and by the end of the afternoon, we settle on the terrace for a beer. In the evening, we eat at the same restaurant as on the first night, and as planned, we end the evening with a round from Martijn for his birthday. At half past eleven, I go to bed.
