18 february - 1 march 2006 (12 days)
The last full day of the trip. We are heading back to Vancouver, but tonight we will stay in Kamloops. Along the way, we cross the time zone again, giving us an extra hour today. We load the luggage into the vans and leave Canmore at eight o’clock.
We drive via Banff back toward Lake Louise, then turn off toward Golden. At the Rogers Pass, we visit the visitor center, where a film about grizzly bears is shown. Although the animals look cuddly, they can be very dangerous (in the summer, because now they are all sleeping). In nearby Revelstoke, we stop for lunch at a roadside restaurant. After that, it’s just the drive to Kamloops. The route increasingly passes through towns, and traffic on the road picks up again. At four o’clock, we arrive in Kamloops at our hotel. In the evening, we dine at Earls restaurant. During dinner, we thank Graham and Julie for their efforts and present them with an envelope. Graham also thanks us for the fun and enjoyable trip.
