Netherlands > On the way home

Dag 30 - Saturday, July 7, 2018

The roads in Dresden are still quiet at half past seven in the morning. On a Saturday morning, there is hardly any traffic. We are driving, though. We decided to leave early for the last stretch of the journey home. Since the hotel breakfast buffet had not yet opened, we stop after an hour of driving for breakfast. It turns out to be a McDonald’s. The coffee and sandwiches taste great. Today’s travel distance is just under eight hundred kilometers. Via Leipzig and Nordhausen, we drive to Kassel. Just past Dortmund, we stop for lunch. Then we continue to the Dutch border. Just before half past three, we drive back into the Netherlands—much faster than we had expected. It feels strange to be driving in our own country again. This is also the clear signal that the holiday is over. At exactly five o’clock, we arrive in Delft.
