France > Disneyland in Halloween atmosphere

Dag 2 - Friday, October 17, 2003

In the morning, we have breakfast at the hotel around nine o’clock. The breakfast is served with a measured amount of bread and jam, which turns out to be just enough. While we drink our coffee, everyone slowly wakes up. After breakfast, we drive toward Disneyland. The hotel is located right in the corner where Disney is, so the travel distance is only about half an hour. The parking lot isn’t very full. We park the cars and walk to the entrance. We decide to buy tickets only for Disneyland Park and not for Walt Disney Studios, as that would be too much for one day. As soon as we walk under the entrance gate, we feel immersed in the Disney atmosphere of Main Street USA. Through Main Street, we head toward Space Mountain. The queue isn’t too long, so we join the line. Space Mountain is a fun experience. In Discoveryland, we also visit Captain Nemo’s submarine and the show Honey, I Shrunk the Audience. It’s amusing, especially if you already know the effects from previous visits. We wander through the park, take the train in Thunder Mountain, visit the fairytale palace, and of course, the haunted house Phantom Manor. Around three o’clock, we return to Main Street for the parade. The parade, like the entire park, is themed for Halloween. From a terrace just behind the crowd, I have a great view of the parade. By half past six, we’ve had enough, and the park is about to close. We walk toward Disney Village to get something to eat. At the entrance, bags are checked and randomly searched, so it should be safe inside. Safe perhaps, but there are no seats available. The restaurant is full. We don’t really feel like trying another restaurant

. Everyone is quite tired from the day. We decide to drive back to Paris and eat at the hotel. And so we do. Around eight o’clock, we sit together at the hotel restaurant, a very good choice. While chatting after dinner, we find out that the restaurant closes at eleven. In the last round, we order some drinks and sit in the hotel’s small lobby. We play a game and read a bit before everyone heads to their rooms.
