Last night we left the port of St. Johns on Antigua to arrive tomorrow morning in La Romana in the Dominican Republic, a distance of almost eight hundred kilometers. During his morning talk, the captain announced that the AIDA Perla is sailing at about 23 kilometers per hour. So today we are at sea all day. We take it easy and take our time for breakfast. After that, we go to deck fifteen. Many sunbeds are already occupied. Fortunately, we still find two beds on the port side. We lay down our stuff and first go to the pool. The pool is partly outside and partly covered. You can swim from outside to inside and vice versa. The water temperature is colder than I expected. But maybe that’s because we come out of the sun. Once I’m done, it’s lovely swimming. On the sunbed in the sun, I find it too hot. I swap my spot for a chair in the shade—a wonderful place to start my book. Slowly more people sit in the small shaded area. When the sun takes over and the shade area shrinks, we return to our cabin.
Our balcony is in the shade as well, also a great place to hang out. In the afternoon we walk around the ship. We have something to eat at the lunch restaurant and stroll along the promenade deck on deck 8. Funny that there are still places on the ship we haven’t been to yet. In the evening we eat again at Bonna Della. We have a table by the passage where everyone walks by. It’s nice but also a bit lively. The food tastes no less delicious. As on the previous days, we finish at nine o’clock in the theater. Tonight’s show is ‘Let’s Get Loud.’ The dance group performs music numbers with great enthusiasm. They often walk into the audience to get everyone clapping or singing along. It’s once again a fun show. At the end of the show, dozens of staff come onto the stage. Some guests will disembark tomorrow in the Dominican Republic. During the last number, a flag parade thanks all the guests.
